How do you prepare a heart to ache
Or ready arms for emptiness
Because too soon she will be far away
Her hugs and wild hair
Her silly voice, imagination and spontaneity
Two peas
And she's not ready to go a week without her
I'm not ready
And so I hold her and we ready
Ready our hearts
And whisper what goodbye for now means
While making plans for road trips and Skype dates
Because our readiness doesn't determine how this life goes
Life just goes
And we get to choose how to react
So we look at maps and measure miles in time
We make plans
And talk about how forever isn't disrupted by distance
But until the day that goodbye is required
Two peas they remain
Living between make-believe and reality, surrounded by barbies, running with abandon, holding hands, overflowing with passion for everything life and hugging tightly

"Because our readiness doesn't determine how this life goes
Life just goes" these words are so true! enjoyed reading this
Summer, it's about two best friends. Thanks for visiting and for your sweet comment!
I can feel such hope and love but also the bitterness or sadness of goodbye. Especially if we're not ready, you know?
But there is such beauty and connection. Heart to heart and life to life.
I love your words: So we look at maps and measure miles in time
We make plans
And talk about how forever isn't disrupted by distance
Measuring miles in time - that rings so true in my heart and relationships with friends. And, no, forever is never interrupted by distance. Love covers that gap.
Thank you for your beautiful words.
It's so hard to separate from a best friend--what a beautiful word picture you've painted. Separation, yet hope. That just about describes our relationship with God, doesn't it? We're separated because of sin, but Jesus gives us hope.
It is so hard to lose a loved one, but in Heaven we have a Hope that is greater. I pray we each are ready to love today and rejoice in the eternal Lover who awaits us with open arms. Each day is truly a gift.
Yes - true beauty in connection. Thank you for your thoughtful and loving comment. Blessings
How true is it of our relationship with God and yet - Jesus bridges the gap! Blessings
Each day is truly a gift, and yes how I look forward to that eternal place where we can all share Gods presence together

I've said far too many good-byes in my life, and I look forward to the time when there will be no more good-byes! Come Lord Jesus, come!
Thanks Rachel...and how great to cut the distance with technology!
